Code-EFABAR Certificate for Hybrid Turkeys

22-Nov-2010

Hendrix Genetics (and each of its divisions) takes pride in the fact that our animals are well cared-for. We also strive to inform society about what we do as breeding company, therefore, Hendrix Genetics has decided to adopt the Code-EFABAR for all its divisions globally.

Code-EFABAR stands for ‘Code of Good Practice for European Farm Animal Breeding and Reproduction’. It addresses issues of food safety, public health, product quality, genetic diversity, efficiency, environmental impact, animal health, animal welfare, and breeding and reproduction technologies.

In September, Hybrid Turkeys researched whether the procedures and vision of the company were in agreement with the rules of Code-EFABAR. A ‘Guide for Implementation’ was written in which all the above-mentioned issues are addressed and the policy and procedures of Hybrid Turkeys regarding these issues are described.

The European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders (EFFAB) has since confirmed the adoption of the Code by Hybrid Turkeys. Subsequently, this led to the presentation of an EFABAR Certificate to Ron Slavnik, Managing Director of Hybrid Turkeys, on November 1st 2010.
