The Flock of the Month is determined using a performance index (PI) combining multiple measures, including average daily gain (ADG), livability, and feed conversion ratio. We examine the customer data available for the latest reporting period and make a selection of the top performing flock overall.

The use of a PI combining multiple measures allow us to evaluate overall performance rather than relying on a single metric. Sustainable, balanced breeding means delivering a high-performing turkey that will consistently perform well when looking at multiple traits, keeping in mind that too much focus on one trait can have a negative effect on a related trait. Combining multiple metrics provides a more complete and balanced view of performance.

In the interest of recognizing strong performance, we'd like to share the best trait performance results to demonstrate genetic potential in action. The best single trait performance in this reporting period was 0.3389 lbs for average daily gain, 2.13 for adjusted feed conversion, and 91.9% for livability.
