Hendrix Genetics reaches $500,000 milestone in community giving efforts

At every level of our organization, our employees and our contract growers believe in the importance of providing healthy food to their community. Food insecurity continues to increase, especially after the past few years, and it is inspiring to see how much we can achieve when we work together towards a shared goal.

Each year the team at Hendrix Genetics in Canada runs a community giving campaign aimed at providing support to local partners (Nutrition for Learning and Food and Friends) who supply food to kids in need. Both partners organize programs that provide families in the community with universal access to food. With an increased need for support, these local partners rely on support from corporate sponsors.

Thanks to the generous contributions of employees, contract grower partners and financial matching by Hendrix Genetics, we are overjoyed to announce that together we raised $57,376.00 this year! This marks a significant milestone of providing over $500,000 of financial support to our partners since 2016. The continued level of engagement and generosity speaks to the value of these organizations, as well as our employees’ eagerness to support the health and development of children in our local community.

A partner like Hendrix Genetics is especially meaningful to Nutrition for Learning because of our shared values. While our work is vastly different, we are on similar missions: to be part of the solution for food security challenges within our communities. We feel that every single employee and contract partner at Hendrix Genetic is with us on this collective mission. We anticipate a need for over 2 million meals for students during this school year. This simply can't happen without partners like Hendrix Genetix. Their leadership means thousands of students have the fuel they deserve in order to focus, imagine, grow, and play.

Our Breakfast Club operates in the school prior to the school day beginning and provides a safe haven where the kids can re-start their day. Kind and gentle volunteers and staff provide the kids with a warm breakfast and an empathetic, listening ear. By the time the school day begins, our neediest little ones have a nourishing meal and a calm and positive start to their morning, which makes for a much more successful start to the day for these students and their peers.
