Introducing the Flock of the Month!
We are excited to launch a new monthly highlight: Flock of the Month. With available customer data from all over North America, we will select the top performing flock for each month.
The goal of this initiative is to give insight into the performance of our products and the success of our customers under real-life conditions.
How do we select the Flock of the Month?
The Flock of the Month is determined using a performance index (PI) combining multiple measures, including average daily gain (ADG), livability, and feed conversion ratio. We examine the customer data available for the latest reporting period and make a selection of the top performing flock overall.
The use of a PI combining multiple measures allow us to evaluate overall performance rather than relying on a single metric. Sustainable, balanced breeding means delivering a high-performing turkey that will consistently perform well when looking at multiple traits, keeping in mind that too much focus on one trait can have a negative effect on a related trait. Combining multiple metrics provides a more complete and balanced view of performance.
In the interest of recognizing strong performance, it is also relevant to share the best trait performance results to demonstrate genetic potential in action. The best single trait performance in this reporting period was 0.3431 lbs for average daily gain, 2.27 for gross feed conversion, and 93.18% for livability.
Balanced selection was key in the development of the 2024 Hybrid Converter, while still delivering strong results in the traits that matter most for our customers. These genetics are designed to support more sustainable turkey production, including increased breast meat yield, improved feed conversion, and superior reproductive traits. We remain committed to balanced, sustainable breeding that looks at the big picture in delivering value for our customers and the industry. If you would like to discuss your own flock results and how to take your performance to the next level, reach out to our technical team.
