Young Growers Club launches in France

On April 23rd, we (Hybrid Turkeys) launched the 'Club des Jeunes' in France, with 15 young turkeys production technicians in attendance from all parts of France.

The meeting began with a visit to STVO, our turkey processing plant.  Estelle Drosnet, Sales manager STVO, and Jean-Christian Gicquel, General Manager STVO, explained a part of their work and what they do to add value to spent turkey meat. Attendees saw the whole plant process; from turkey carcass to final delivery of turkey pieces for retail and foodservice.

Then, we shared time with “Club des Jeunes” members. We presented the Hendrix Genetics group, goals of the club and the roles and expectations of both Hybrid Turkeys and the club members. Our R&D Manager and Welfare specialist, Sylvain Briere, did a short quiz about turkeys. We finished with an open discussion focused on the needs for their future.

We will develop the “Club des Jeunes” around technical topics and activities for each meeting. The members have voiced interest in learning more about

  • genetics and animal selection
  • new expectations and trends
  • technical workshops
  • technology in animal production
  • Hendrix Genetics operations via visits to facilities

The group decided to have three meetings per year and spread the meetings over various locations throughout France and international locations if necessary.

We are happy to announce that our next meeting will take place in September during the SPACE Show.

Thanks to all members for their enthusiasm during this first meeting!

This club is being led by Valentin Theneau and Nicolas Pidoux, who are members of the technical support team of Hendrix Genetics Turkeys France.
